Description
La Giralda, the bell tower of Saint Mary of the See Cathedral in Seville, Spain, was a minaret of a Muslim mosque during the Moorish period, preserved for its beauty and incorporated in the construction when the mosque was converted into a church. The top section with the bells and the famous eponymous El Giraldillo weather vane are Christian additions. The Cathedral, along with the Alcázar Palace and the General Archive of the Indies, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
