Description
Herculaneum Ruins - Colorful Red Murals Courtyard Behind a Stone Wall
Peeking over a ruined wall in Herculaneum, Italy - Ercolano in Italian - a fascinating UNESCO World Heritage Site of ancient Rome. Like Pompeii the city was destroyed by the Mount Vesuvius eruption in 79 AD. Very well preserved fine roman private houses and public buildings show their original splendor, even murals and wall paintings in a lot of them are still there. You can almost imagine the people just left.
