Description
Ready for Rainfall - The Pantheon Interior Cordoned Off
In anticipation of a rainfall, the Pantheon - the best preserved ancient Roman building in Rome, Italy - is cordoned off and its marvelous multicolored marble floors are without the usual crowds of people. I was so looking forward seeing rain coming down through the oculus on the ceiling 43 meters (142 feet) above but they closed before it started.
Originally the building was a Pantheum or Temple of all the Gods. It’s almost 2000 years old and since the 7th century has been a church, dedicated to St. Mary and the Martyrs and known as "Santa Maria Rotonda".
