Description
La Giralda Bell Tower Framed by Orange Trees - Quintessential Seville Andalusia Spain
Like a picture in a picture La Giralda, the belfry of Seville's cathedral Saint Mary of the See, framed by the ubiquitous Sevillian oranges. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that used to be a minaret of a Muslim mosque during the Moorish period. The belltower was preserved for its beauty, and incorporated in the construction when the mosque was converted into a church in the 13th century. The tower is a beautiful example of intertwined Moorish, Gothic and Baroque architectural styles and has inspired many other towers around the world.

A beautiful piece of architecture! However, when I learned how many stairs would be involved, I decided to stay on the ground!
